Installation

I get an “Unable to Install...” message when launching the Setup.exe file.
Cannot find c:\program files\avstar media\”your course title”\cdcm62.exe.

Login

When logging in as a User, the system cannot find my name.
I Forgot my password.

Administrative Features

The users I register aren’t being saved when I exit the LMS.
When I attempt to import a record from disk, I receive a “No records to import found” error message.
When attempting to import from e-mail, I receive a “no import records found” error message.
When I attempt to export to e-mail, I get a “Host not found” error message.

User Features

I change my password, but on my next login it has reset to the default.
Records of my lesson completion are not being saved.
When exporting to disk, the system returns an “error writing record” message.
When exporting to e-mail, the system returns a “host not found” error message.

Lesson Playback

Graphics are poorly rendered (distorted).
Audio tracks not playing in selected tutorials. Note: Not all tutorials contain audio narration.

 
Installation Error messages

Q: I get an “Unable to Install...” message when launching the Setup.exe file.
A: No Administrator Privileges. If your computer is configured with User Groups, you may lack the privileges necessary to write to the hard disk. Contact your system administrator.

Q: Cannot find c:\program files\avstar media\”your course title”\cdcm62.exe.
A: The application folder has been moved or renamed. If the folder was moved or renamed, your shortcut icons will need to be re-pointed to the cdcm62.exe file. Right click the shortcut icon and click Properties. From the Shortcut tab, use the Browse feature to locate the cdcm62.exe file, or type in the new path.

Login

Q: When logging in as a User, the system cannot find my name.
A: Not currently registered. An administrator must register each user before they can access the Avstar Media courseware. Contact the administrator and have them verify the registration information.

Q: I Forgot my password.
A: The administrator can verify the user password from the Admin/Registration feature of the LMS. Administrators can also reset the password from the Registration feature.

Administrative Features

Q: The users I register aren’t being saved when I exit the LMS.
A: You don’t have read/write privileges to the Records folder. This problem typically occurs with a Server Records install. Make sure the Records folder at the server records location has been established with Read/Write, Create, Modify, and Delete privileges.

Q: When I attempt to import a record from disk, I receive a “No records to import found” error message.
A: Incorrect drive letter selected for import records. Select the correct drive letter from the drive letter dropdown list.

Q: When attempting to import from e-mail, I receive a “no import records found” error message.
A: The import record zip files have not been copied to the Temp Zip folder. Drag and drop the zip files attached to the student record e-mails into the “Course Title” Temp Zip folder. (example: Pilot Training Temp Zip)

Q: When I attempt to export to e-mail, I get a “Host not found” error message.
A:

You do not have an active internet connection. Establish an internet connection.
or
Your e-mail server is incompatible with the e-mail function. Call Avstar Media Support.

A: No disk in the floppy disk drive. Ensure that a disk has been inserted into your floppy drive.

Insufficient disk space. Ensure that sufficient space exists on the target disk.

Incorrect drive letter chosen. Change the drive letter to match your floppy disk drive location.

A:

You do not have an active internet connection. Establish an internet connection.

Lesson Playback

Q: Graphics are poorly rendered (distorted).
A: Computer screen resolution set too low. Avstar Media courseware requires a minimum 16 bit, 64,000 colors screen depth. Running the courseware with an 8 bit, 256 color screen depth will result in poorly rendered images. Reset the screen depth to a minimum 16 bit.

A:

No Sound Card. Ensure the playback machine has an installed sound card.

Speakers OFF or un-powered. Check all speaker connections and ensure the speakers are receiving power and are turned on.
